An IUD is a contraceptive which is placed in the uterus and so prevents pregnancy during five years. You can get it placed in our practice. First, you will have an intake interview of 10 minutes, in which the GP discusses the procedure and if necessary takes samples. After that an appointment of 20 minutes will be scheduled to place the IUD.
We place the IUD under a local anesthetic. That makes the procedure a lot less painful. After the placement, it will be checked if the IUD is in place with an ultrasound. Getting an IUD removed often goes quicker. You can make a normal 10 minutes appointment for that.
